Occupational First Aid Level 1 or OFA 1 (also known as Workplace Emergency First Aid or WEFA) is a hands-on interactive 1 day course that  teaches workers how to deal with the most common workplace first-aid emergencies.

The Red Cross Workplace Emergency First Aid program is recognized by WorkSafe BC as equivalent to the OFA Level 1 program.

Upon successful completion of the course, participants receive a 3-year certification.

The course curriculum includes:

-WorkSafeBC records

-Airway, breathing and circulation emergencies                

-Adult CPR

-Choking procedures as well as emergency scene management

- Preparing to respond, prevention of disease transmission

-Dealing with shock

-Spinal injuries

-Minor wound management

-Major bleeding

- Internal bleeding

-Poisons and minor burns.

-Students will also be trained to use an Automated External Defibrillator.

*Includes any other content required by specific legislation


Must be 16 years of age or older

Course Length:

8 hours,  including coffee and lunch breaks.
